NASCAR: FEB 27 Sprint Cup Series - Shelby American GT 350

When Khane burst onto the scene in 2004 he was described by many NASCAR drivers and analysts as one of the young guns of the future. Khane spent the early part of his career with Richard Petty Motorsports and although Richard Petty was a great driver his team is nothing special. Sub-par is what I would use to describe the Petty Organization. So I am impressed and appreciative that Khane was able to win 11 races and secure 74 top 10s in the poor equipment. Khane sits in 23rd place right now and has not performed that great but he will have several options for next season snce owners know that he has a lot of talen.

The big question is where will he end up?

Personally as a JGR fan I would like him to run a fourth car on that team. That would make JGR the youngest and most talented team in all of motorsports. We can rule out Khane going to Hendrick Motorsports since all of their drivers are under contract however Khane could go to a Hendrick Satellite team like Stewart-Hass Raing that is if Tony Stewart is willing to and is able to find sponsorship for a third car. I highly doubt Khane will remain with Richard Petty Motorsports he is too good for that team and if he wants to compete for a championship he knows he needs to get with a talented group of drivers.

Khane still has this season to focus on. I am sure he will pick it up and propel himself into the chase but I doubt he is a serious threat for a championship.
